Are you interested in volunteering for the Family Crisis Center? Join our 40-hour training beginning on September 6, 2019 to learn the skills necessary to advocate for the rights and needs of abuse victims in your community. The purpose of this training is not only to gain volunteers but to educate our community and to work in partnering with other agencies.

Per state evidence code 1037.1, California requires that all persons, whether paid or volunteers working in the Domestic Violence field take a 40-hour training to work within a DV shelter or provide peer and group counseling to victims of domestic violence. Our agency offers this training biannually, at a cost of $50 per attendee. (Ask about our student discount.)

Each attendee must fill out a registration form, and pay a non-refundable deposit of $20, which is due with registration. Please mail or drop off both the application and the fee directly at our Drop-In Center/Admin Office 211 N. Main St. Porterville, CA 93257.

Also we will be closing this training when we reach 20 registrants.

All attendees will be given a volunteer application with their training material. This form must be completed by anyone wishing to volunteer. A background check is also required to volunteer at our Emergency Shelter or our Drop-In Center/Admin Office.


It’s that time of year again for the Family Crisis Center’s Sunday Social! Please join us for Dinner, Dessert Auction & Raffle Prizes on September 15, 2019.

This fundraiser will be held at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church with is located at 776 W. Grand Ave, Porterville, CA. 

The event doors will open at 4:30pm.
Tickets for the event Cost $30 per person and can be purchased from any FCC Board Member or at the administrative office.

Please join us Thursday, October 17th at 6:00 pm at Centennial Park for our 21st Annual Candlelight Vigil.
We will have a short program and conclude with reading the names of victims of domestic violence who have lost their lives over the past year. Each attendee will be given a candle which we will light to remember those lives lost and to shine a light on the impact of domestic violence. This is a free community event and all are encouraged to join us.
